What is an AFF skydiving course?

An AFF (Accelerated Freefall) course teaches you to skydive on your own. In France the method is called PAC, the FFP's official training programme. At PACMA, the course includes ground school and 7 instructed jumps from 4,000 m, from level 1, held by two instructors, all the way to your solo.

4 levels, 1 goal: your solo

The programme, level by level

PAC, the French AFF, has 4 levels set by the FFP technical directive. On level 1, two instructors hold you in freefall. On levels 2 and 3, a single instructor jumps with you, then releases you. Level 4 is your solo! The FFP requires at least 6 accompanied jumps before that first solo jump.

Discovering freefall

Body position, reading your altimeter, practice pulls, then the very first deployment of your own parachute, by yourself.

2 instructors hold you as you exit the aircraftLevel 1
Level 2

Stability

Holding a heading, turning, getting back to a stable, belly-to-earth position and keeping track of your altitude: you find your bearings in the sky.

1 instructor, who holds you on exit at first, then lets you exit on your ownLevel 2
Level 3

Independence

The release: you fly on your own under your instructor's watch and deploy on your own at the planned altitude.

Level 4

Solo

Your first jump with no instructor in freefall, after at least 6 accompanied jumps: a moment you never forget.

Indicative only: outside France, AFF is often split into 7 levels (8 in the UK). What you learn is very similar; only the way it is divided changes.

Why Morocco in winter

Learn to freefall this winter in Beni Mellal

When the season ends across much of Europe, ours begins! From 5 December 2026 to 4 April 2027, you learn to skydive in the sun, above the Tadla plain, facing the peaks of the Middle Atlas, often snow-capped in winter.

  • An FFP-approved club

Founded in 2000 and based at Beni Mellal airport since 2003, PACMA trains to the rules of the French Parachuting Federation: the PAC method, FFP licences, approved medical exams.

  • 4,000 m on every jump

Every jump starts from about 4,000 m: close to 50 seconds of freefall to fly your plan at your own pace.

  • A Pilatus PC-6 Porter

9 skydivers per lift and a 15 to 20 minute climb to 4,000 m. A second Pilatus joins at busy times.

  • Open every day

Throughout the season the dropzone is open every day from 8:30 am to 6 pm, so you move from level to level without waiting for the next weekend.

  • Easy to reach

The dropzone is a 2-hour drive from Casablanca airport and 2.5 hours from Marrakech.

  • Clear prices

Non-resident prices in euros, resident prices in dirhams, group rates from 10 people: every price is published, and so is everything that isn't included.

Instruction and safety

Your instructors, your safety

Your course follows the FFP's safety rules. You are trained by qualified instructors, every parachute carries an automatic activation device, and weather calls are made by the club's chief instructor, Omar Benizi, a skydiver since 1975 with around 14,000 jumps according to the press: you are in good hands.

  • Qualified instructors

Club instructors and those of our partner Vertical T'Air, a skydiving centre in Arcachon, France, which also brings the aircraft. Many French instructors spend the winter in Beni Mellal.

  • An AAD on every parachute

Every parachute is fitted with an automatic activation device, which opens the reserve if deployment has not happened at the planned altitude.

  • Wind limits for students

FFP rules cap ground wind at 7 m/s for students until the canopy module of the A licence is passed. If conditions aren't right, we wait or reschedule, free of charge.

  • Procedures rehearsed on the ground

Before your first jump, you rehearse the emergency procedures on the ground until they become reflexes: you jump with confidence.

After the course: next stop, your A licence

The AFF course ends on a high, with your solo. The FFP A licence, the first licence that lets you jump without an instructor, requires at least 12 jumps, including 5 solo. You can keep jumping in Beni Mellal all season long: every jump is recorded in your logbook.

Once licensed, a 4,000 m jump costs €27, €37 with gear rental and €42 with packing, plus the dropzone card at €20.

Carrying on at home? Take your logbook and contact your federation or your school before you travel: each federation sets its own rules for training done abroad.

Jumping at PACMA once licensed

Not sure yet? Start with an AFF first jump.

The AFF first jump is level 1 on its own: ground school and a first jump from 4,000 m, held by two instructors, for €500. A great way to get a taste of freefall before you sign up for the full course.

Book my AFF course
How much does an AFF course cost?

At PACMA, the AFF course costs €1,300 for non-residents, 14,200 MAD for Morocco residents and 13,200 MAD per person for groups of 10 or more. The price includes ground school and 7 instructed jumps from 4,000 m. The federation licence with insurance and the medical exam are extra.

How many jumps does it take to skydive solo?

With AFF, the FFP requires at least 6 accompanied jumps before level 4, the solo. The course has 7: if you pass every level first time, your seventh jump is your solo!

How many days does an AFF course take?

The pace follows the weather and your progress, not a fixed timetable. The club is open every day of the season from 8:30 am to 6 pm, so you can move through the levels without waiting. Leave yourself a little leeway in your trip: a jump cancelled because of the weather is rebooked free of charge.

Can you fail an AFF level?

Yes, and it's completely normal, especially at level 2: that's how you progress. Your instructor goes through the jump with you, corrects you on the ground, then you repeat the level, more confident than before. A repeated jump isn't included in the course price.

Do I need to have skydived before?

No, no experience is needed, not even a tandem jump. Ground school teaches you everything you need to know before your first jump. Fancy testing yourself first? The AFF first jump (€500) is level 1 on its own.

What is the minimum age for an AFF course?

From 16 at PACMA, with parental consent for minors. An FFP-approved medical exam taken within the last three months is still compulsory for every student.

What medical do I need for AFF?

An FFP-approved medical exam taken within the last three months. Don't have one? Simply have it on site with the club doctor, for 200 MAD.

Do I need a licence to do the course?

Yes: to jump at an FFP club, a federation licence with insurance is compulsory. It's easy to take out on site, on top of the course price.

What happens if it's too windy?

Under FFP rules, students don't jump in ground winds above 7 m/s, and the chief instructor makes the call. We wait for a weather window or reschedule: you lose nothing, as rebooking is free, to another date in the season or as a credit.

Is an AFF course dangerous?

The whole course is built to manage the risks that come with skydiving: FFP rules, qualified instructors, emergency procedures rehearsed on the ground and an automatic activation device on every parachute. Your instructors stay with you in freefall until you're ready to fly on your own, with confidence.

Will my training be recognised in my country?

The course follows the FFP programme and your progress is recorded in your logbook. Each federation decides how it treats training done abroad: contact yours, or your school, before you travel, and bring your logbook home.

What do I do after the AFF course?

Keep jumping to earn your FFP A licence: at least 12 jumps, including 5 solo. You can carry on in Beni Mellal throughout the season. Once licensed, a 4,000 m jump costs €27.

Can friends or family come along?

Yes, your friends and family are welcome on the dropzone to watch you jump and land. They can have lunch with you under the caidal tent by the runway for 70 MAD per person.

How do I get to Beni Mellal?

The dropzone is at Beni Mellal airport, a 2-hour drive from Casablanca and 2.5 hours from Marrakech. The most comfortable option: stay locally during your course, so you can fit your jumps around the weather.

Can I give an AFF course as a gift?

Yes, the AFF course is available as a gift voucher, ready to print straight away. The voucher is valid for the season: until 4 April 2027 for a voucher bought today, with the date printed on it.

Your first solo is waiting in Beni Mellal.
